The ASPCA’s Centralized Placement team connects at-risk animals with our Placement Partners, a nationwide network of shelters and rescue groups. These resilient animals are rescued from cruelty or disaster situations and receive much needed care as they recover at ASPCA facilities in Ohio, North Carolina, and New York. Our behavior and medical professionals carefully assess each animal’s temperament, behavior, and medical needs and provide advanced treatment for animals with medical or behavioral conditions. Once these animals are ready, the Centralized Placement team places them with a Partner organization who can help them find new homes.
"As a small foster-based group, we deeply appreciate the opportunity to not only meet potential candidates for transfer to our care but also to take them out on Doggy Day Out outings. These excursions allow us to observe the dogs beyond their detailed behavior notes and spend valuable one-on-one time with them. Naturally, once we spend time together, we become even more motivated to find a foster and welcome the dog into our program."
Animal Selection Process
When sharing animal information with our Placement Partners, we strive to create profiles that are easy to review. Partners can scan through the highlighted medical and behavioral needs, then click the animal’s individual card for more details. Partners are given access to detailed animal records to ensure they are a good fit for your organization. We continuously welcome feedback from our partners on this process to ensure we are meeting your needs effectively.

Our Placement Partners receive detailed information on each animal’s history so they can select animals that are a good fit for their organization. The Centralized Placement team also provides ongoing support after transport including promotional resources to help find foster or adoptive homes. Financial assistance to support costs associated with intake and care of placed animals may also be available.
Placement Partners play a crucial role in the lifesaving work of giving animals a second chance at finding new homes. They provide animals with the opportunity to leave their troubled past behind and find new homes where they can thrive.
