Description
Salary: $105,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the medical team to promote a work environment that encourages high-quality service, accountability, employee empowerment, and teamwork.
- Work in collaboration with the Clinic Manager to create an efficient and effective workflow that meets strategic goals, while fostering cooperation and productivity.
- Perform an average of twenty-five spay/neuter surgeries per day including the possibility of in-heat, pregnant, cryptorchid and pediatric animals; public, feral/community cats & shelter animals.
- Perform minor surgeries for shelter animals such as dentals, amputations, enucleations, mass removals, etc. as time and resources allow.
- Provide post-op rechecks, as necessary.
- Perform wellness services, including administering vaccinations and preventatives.
- Advise and perform euthanasia, when medically appropriate.
- Supervise handling and recording of controlled substances by medical staff.
- Lift and handle animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments with assistance. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Exposure to radiation in association with performing radiology procedures. Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping, standing, climbing stairs, and walking. Repetitive motion associated with medical and surgical care.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited university or equivalent.
- Active license to practice veterinary medicine in Mississippi or ability to obtain.
- USDA accredited veterinarian (in Mississippi) or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to obtain a DEA license and manage record keeping of controlled substances.
- 1-2 years of spay/neuter experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong interest in spectrum of care, animal welfare, and increasing OCHS’ lifesaving impact in Mississippi.
