Veterinarian ($10,000 Hiring Incentive)
Description
The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is seeking full-time Veterinarians. Sunny and friendly with an amazing culture, extensive activities for individuals and families alike, Albuquerque is a great place to live! New grads welcome! The Animal Welfare Department is a progressive, open-admission municipal shelter with an annual intake of about 18,000 animals. We also have a community spay/neuter clinic and mobile preventive-care clinic van. We are looking to add one or two veterinarians to our current team. Our staff includes several registered Veterinary Technicians and a large team of Veterinary Assistants that are committed to the medical and behavioral care of this population of homeless animals. Our main veterinary facility includes multiple isolation areas and treatment kennels as well as equipment such as digital x-ray, in-house blood machines, orthopedic equipment and electrocautery. The staff Veterinarians share the duties of high-quality, high volume spay/neuter surgeries as well as many other types of surgery; inpatient and outpatient treatment and monitoring; participation in disease management protocol; and community outreach programs.
Full-time Veterinarians generally work four (4) ten (10)-hour days per week but the hours are flexible. Enjoy the freedom of No on-call or emergency duty! Your time will split among our three facilities (two shelters and our brand-new community spay/neuter clinic). Again, New Grads welcome! We will work with you the help you improve your surgical and medical skill in a hands-on, immersive environment.
Please ask about the City's amazing benefits!!
