11 Valentine’s Day Promotions

Shelters across the country went all out for Valentine’s Day this year. Check out these new and fun ways to promote animals and raise awareness and funds—great inspiration for next February 14!

Pets and people sitting in a tree…K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Animal Rescue League of Iowa’s Kissing Booth photo album invited their fans to submit smooches and get their “awww” on.

Check out SpokAnimal C.A.R.E.'s Critter-Gram program: "Honor a loved one or special pet by sending a Critter-Gram for Valentine's Day! Your Critter-Gram will be mailed, or if within the city limits hand-delivered with a muffin and hot cocoa to the animal lover in your life." There's also the option of sponsoring a cat or dog adoption, or a kennel for a year.

Slammin' shelter signage, Valentine's edition: Cherokee County Animal Shelter's promo for this little dude. Calling Dr. Love!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More slammin' shelter signage, Valentine's edition: Washington Animal Rescue League's promo for Catapalooza. Sunday from noon to 3, the DC agency's offering "just the two of us" $2 adoption fees for all cats.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And once again our heart goes thumpity thump! All thanks to Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region for posting this moving photo to Facebook on V-Day along with a great adoption special: "All cats are $14 and all dogs ages 3 and up are $14 TODAY ONLY!"

This hearty video features a cat from Joplin Humane Society Animal Adoption & Resource Center's Lonely Hearts Club, in which adoptions were just $14. And the other cats have their adoption fees sponsored! Excuse us while we swoon.

Do you hold bake sales at your shelter? Decatur Animal Services raised over $600 today during their Valentine-themed sale. "The money will be used to lower adoption prices of the shelter animals," they told their Facebook fans.

We're sweet on the Valentine-themed signage that Idaho Humane Society is using to promote their available pets, like 10-year-old Leo.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We love the way you spell, Cleveland Animal Protective League. Nice artwork  and slogan from the adoptions event in which multiple local groups teamed up. The APL offered $30 adoption fees for cats less than 1 year old and just $5 for cats one year and up.

Larimer Humane Society celebrated online and in person: For every donation of $15 or more they received, the donor would be recognized with a personalized heart displayed in the shelter lobby through Feb. 29, plus a photo of their Paw-lentine added was added to a special Facebook photo album, like this one of Blue, Dixie and Skipper.

Before you return to your regularly scheduled programming, here's a station break (with a French accent) from the SPCA of Wake County. Related links: “10 Valentine’s Day Campaigns” “Take Five Black Friday: What You Did Over Thanksgiving Vacation”
