Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch is seeking a HQHVSN Veterinarian at our Jupiter, Florida shelter and serving Palm Beach County and surrounding areas. This position performs HQHVSN surgeries at our Jupiter location and oversees all surgeries and medical care for all animals receiving services in our mobile unit. The primary responsibilities of the HQHVSN Veterinarian include performing spay/neuter surgeries, monitoring the health of treated animals during recovery, and providing basic preventive care for privately owned and shelter animals . The successful candidate will have experience performing high volume, high quality spay/neuter surgeries, preferably as part of a mobile unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform clinical and surgical veterinary duties at our Jupiter location and as part of a high volume, high quality spay/neuter mobile unit.
- Liaise as needed with the medical and animal care teams at Furry Friends, Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, and other agencies and organizations as required.
- Complete and maintain medical records in accordance with organizational and state standards.
- As needed, provide direct professional contact with medical and animal care staff and pet owners to answer questions or to follow-up on concerns related to patient care and policies.
- Work effectively with veterinary technicians at Furry Friends and in the mobile unit.
- Represent Furry Friends in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Must be available to work weekend hours as requested.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid and current license to practice veterinary medicine in Florida required.
- Must possess a DEA controlled substance license, or a willingness to obtain a DEA license for this position.
- At least two years of HQHVSN surgical experience preferred.
- A motivated team player with a commitment to shelter medicine and saving lives.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to perform delicate, highly specialized surgical procedures on dogs and cats of various sizes and health conditions.
- Must be able to work around animals including those with behavioral issues or physical illnesses, loud noises, chlorine or other chemicals, and inclement weather
- Must be able to comfortably interact with cats/dogs of various health levels, including zoonotic diseases such as ringworm, scabies, intestinal parasites, etc.
- Must be able to walk big dogs that pull and jump
- Must be able to visually observe people and animals from up to 150 feet away
- Ability to hear normal speech at close contact and shouting up to 150 feet away with the ability to hear and discern dog vocalizations both soft and loud
- Must be able to focus in a loud and busy environment despite distractions
- Must be able to walk around mobile unit, shelter, and other locations as needed - uneven ground, keeping a safe distance from dogs and handlers
- Will sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, stoop, bend, stretch, squat, kneel, grasp, grip, put fingers together firmly and reach above and below shoulder level, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and push and pull up to 50 pounds for situations of moving supplies and setting up for events; repetitively use hands to operate computers; flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist
- Some weekend hours required
